Apple Brings Back The Nude App After A Baffling Fight With The App Makers

The Nude iOS app which was pulled off by Apple from the App Store is finally back and the company is still asking for the actual reason. The iOS app which lets the iOS users hide their images, videos using the AI technology was removed by Apple just after three weeks of its launch. The team behind the Nude shared their experience with Apple as “Bizarre”. After a week of effort the team Nude was able to bring back the app to the App Store.

According to the YC Chen, the co-founder of Nude, the Apple gave no specific reason for kicking off the app from the App Store. Now, the app is back in the app store for the users. Chen also said that the iPhone maker states, “the App Store Review Guidelines are live documents, which can result in new rules any time”, as the explanation for the app removal. The co-founder also shared that his team works for hours on the app to make it compliant with the Apple’s App Store guidelines. But, he also said that their experience dealing with the Apple was frustrating and little bizarre as the company was giving a different explanation for pulling off the Nude app every time.

“We spent countless hours and nights designing and building a pragmatic product that we wanted millions to enjoy, only to be taken down from the App Store on our third week after launching without a proper explanation,” said Chen. Chen also mentioned that Apple warned the Nude team that “Locking Photos is no longer a compliant use case for an app.” However, the other apps such as Snapchat, KeepSafe are using the feature without facing any issue. At the end, the Chen was asked to remove the “Sexiest App Ever” branding in order to retain the access to the App Store for the Nude app. Afterwards, the company renamed it with just “Nude app” for branding.

The Nude app uses the CoreML technology incorporated in the iOS 11 to serve the users an AI equipped experience. This technology helps the app to identify the images and file them automatically without sharing them to the cloud storage. The app received a 60 percent of user retention as compared to the industry rate which is 20 percent according to Chen. The nude team is also working on the Android version of the app using the Google’s TensorFlow LIte. Maybe the real reason is still suspicious of removing the Nude app, but this helped the Nude to get in the news with Apple. This will surely help the app to boost up its popularity with its return to the App Store.
