Neutrogena Is Launching A Skin Scanning Gadget That Can Be Used With iPhone

Neutrogena, the company owned by skin care giant Johnson & Johnson is introducing a skin care gadget for its customers. The company has built a skin care device that can be used with smartphones to get your skin details and improvement suggestions. Johnson & Johnson owns four companies including McNeil Consumer Healthcare, Vistakon, DePuy but it receives its major portion of revenue from Neutrogena. The company is now planning to take its Skincare business one step further using the latest technology.
Neutrogena has announced the launch of the gadget named Skinscanner that will help you with your skin caring. The scanner can be mount on the upper part of the smartphone and need to push again the facial skin for the results. The Skin Scanner while pushing against the skin captures the highly magnified images of skin tissues. There are also moisture sensors to measure up the moisture percentage in the skin. The scanner can be synchronized with the app Skin360 that shows the details about the scanned skin.
According to the Neutrogena, the gadget will be launched at this year’s CES event at Las Vegas new year. CES is the annual global event to launch latest beauty products where companies across the globe participate to share their tech integrated skin related products. Now, Neutrogena is also one of the skin care companies to use technology integration to create better skin caring products.
The Skin Scanner device needs to be mounted on the top of your iPhone and then it captures the skin shots. The Scanner uses 12 LED lights and a 30x magnifying lens to snap the skin close-ups. There are also moisture sensors that help the device to unveil the skin details for users. After capturing the shots, the user can open up the Skin 360 app to see details. With the help of machine learning, the app will first compare your skin with the standard skin type of a person of your age and then will score it out of 100. Now, here is the catch along with the details, the app will also share suggestions to ‘improve’ skin and will redirect the user to Neutrogena Products like sunscreen, face wash, and other. And Yes! You read it right the iPhone, initially, the gadget will only work on the iPhones.
“The point of the new product is to educate people on their journey to better skin and help them track their skin in more detail. She said there will also be more holistic health tips offered in the app: reminders not to touch your face, or to remove your make-up at night” said Molly Garris, senior manager of digital marketing at Neutrogena in an interview, The Verge reported.
