Ola, Uber's Indian Rival Enters Australia To Challenge The International Market

Ola, the India based ride-hailing company has just confessed its global expansion with the news to launch the service in Australia. The company is the most popular ride-sharing service in India also a top-notch rival for Uber. Today, the company has announced that soon it will be launching its first international service in Australia. The company is also backed by Didi, the Chinese ride sharing giant as a significant investor.

According to the announcement, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney will be first three cities to get the Ola Service. The company also said that it has already started the recruitment of drivers in these cities. However, in order to successfully step out India, the company is awaiting some of the clearance from the Australian government. The India based ride-sharing company was founded back in 2011 and has made its way to the top against Uber in the country. The Ola service is available in more than 110 cities with 125 million registered users and almost 1 million drivers are part of the service. On its way to the success and going international the company has raised total 2.5 billion of the fund from the investors.

However, the Australian ride-sharing market comes under the Uber influence as it is available in 20 cities across the nation. This is not the first time Uber is getting a rival in Australia backed by Didi. In November, Taxify, another ride-hailing company from Europe also stepped in Australia challenging Uber. While explaining the move, the company also shared that how it is planning to provide a ‘high quality and affordable’ traveling experience to the citizens of Australia.
