How Two Young Entrepreneurs Build The Most Powerful Education Tool After Meeting at a Gathering

Liam Don and Sam Chaudhary through ClassDojo are keen to fulfill the absence of dynamism in classroom structures

Two of the youngest entrepreneurs under 30, Liam Don and Sam Chaudhary inspired to create a powerful tool that can reinvent education systems around the world. Considering the powerful role education plays in watering the minds of tomorrow, the young entrepreneurs created a software design ClassDojo that enables students to learn better. The functionalities include in time feedback and online awards credited by the teacher. The honoree of Education National Innovation Award, ClassDojo is used by nearly 6 million teachers and students every year.
The creators of ClassDojo- Liam Don and Sam Chaudhary met at gathering for Entrepreneurs and realized they shared the same concern for education- the incompetence of classroom structures to adapt to the changing education system. Both had a credible experience in the education system as Don was a computer science Ph.D. and Sam Chaudhary taught 20 hours a week through his teenage years and worked for education group of McKinsey and Co. After moving to Silicon Valley to bag $20,000 from Imagine K12, the two young entrepreneurs bolstered their user base research with hundreds of teachers to estimate their needs. Today, six years later, the young founders have a company that’s raised about $31 million worth of investment and boasts of 30 enthusiast employees in a former art gallery of SoMa area in San Francisco. The innovation has gathered tremendous support including personal investment from Y Combinator co-founder Paul Graham.
Research proves that in an education system if the focus is on character building and enhancing their creative skill sets, the result rates and the mental health of students improves twice the scale at any level of the institution. ClassDojo completely aligns completely to this observation as they collect millions of behavioral analysis, 90% of them is recorded as positive. The teachers are using this technology to stay updated with the mental health of their students and share the same with the parents. After a year of reshaping classroom behavior, the education was launched as an app for iOS and Android users in 2012 in multiple languages across the world.
